The company was incorporated in New Zealand in July 2005.

The September 2007 Invitation to eligible investors to apply for shares in Crest Energy Limited was oversubscribed, was not offered to the general public, was not covered by the NZ Securities Act 1978 and did not comply with that Act.

Leading New Zealand energy producer and retailer Todd Energy acquired a 30% shareholding in Crest Energy in mid 2009, with the possibility to extend its holding to 45%.

Shareholders voted at the March 2010 Annual General Meeting to re-appoint Hayes Knight Audit as financial auditors for the fourth successive year.

The April 2010 Invitation to eligible persons to apply for shares in Crest Energy Limited was also slightly oversubscribed, was not offered to the general public, was not covered by the NZ Securities Act 1978 and did not comply with that Act.
